1 Medium size Tomato [Optional].
1 Cup grated Coconut.
1 Tablespoon of Oil.
1/2 Tablespoon of Red Chilli Powder.
1/2 Tablespoon of Coriander Powder.
1 Star Flower.
5 Peppercorns.
1 Marathi mokku.
Few Cumin Seeds.
Salt to Taste.

Preparation Method:
Step 1: Making the Rice. This is simple boil about 3 cups of water and add the rice. in 15 20 mins the rice will be ready, drain the water and transfer the rice to separate bowl.

Step 2: Chickpeas Curry.
Chock chickpeas for about 3 - 4 hours.

Step 3: In a pan add 1 tablespoon of oil and spices. once you get the aroma of the spices add fine chopped onions.

Step 4: Once the onions are translucent add chopped tomato, chilli powder and coriander powder. Cook the masala till the tomato is cooked then add the chickpeas with water enough to cook the chickpeas. Add salt once the water starts to boil.

Step 5: Cook the curry covered in low heat, it take about 20 - 30 mins for the chickpeas to cook. Tip to check if the chickpeas is cooked - when you try to squeeze one chickpea it should be soft. Add the grated coconut and cook for about one minute and turn off the heat.

Chickpeas curry is ready to serve. You can add potato for additional taste, i add it all the time. This curry is good with rice, chapathi, poori and puttu. Same method is used to make the channa masala. The oil can be sunflower oil or coconut oil each have their unique taste.
